An absurdist reaction to workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives.
I noticed that organisations tend to have knee-jerk reactions to news and social media events and want to be seen to promote diversity, often missing the point and just end up treating people like tokens.
This notion was pushed to the absurd and imagined a future where a workplace was explicit about increasing an arbitrary diversity quotient (DQ) and used alien races to represent workforce diversity.
The player is the “HR Manager” and has to select the candidates solely based on their diversity quotient to produce as diverse a workforce as possible. They are also influenced by news broadcasts, which influence some of the metrics behind the diversity quotient, so that a particular event can make a metric more desirable or less desirable and could impact your workforce diversity quotient. There are even advertisements for new species, suggesting that diversity in the future has become a capitalist endeavour.
